What a colourful day it must have been for the Hot Air Balloon Festival 2010 held in Putrajaya. Exactly what happened, sad to say, we don't know.

Basic makeup steps are no longer a new thing to most females. However, there are still girls who are strungling to get the right steps to basic makeup.

For instance, just weeks before, we were wondering what are the steps to basic makeup as all we do before heading out of the house is lining the eyebrows, smooch some lipstick and thats it! (we know, damn jakun right!)

In order to find out the right way and the simplest steps to basic makeup, we thought MAC could enlighten us with this but to our dismay, the girl who attended us gave us a look of disgust. Why? Because we dont know the simple steps to basic makeup and she didnt even bother telling us which caused us not to walk into MAC ever again.

Upon remembering this just a while ago, we decided to check via the Internet and boy, we should have gone to Women's Web instead because there, we found 5 simple steps to basic makeup!

Step 1: foundation
After cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face, apply a small amount of foundation to the tip of your index finger, dot on forehead, nose, cheeks and chin then blend in an upward and outward motion without leaving a line. Be sure to apply foundation over your eyelids and blend without leaving a line. Glance in the mirror to ensure there's no line. You can use a concealer to cover imperfections such as blemishes and dark spots. You can use our NATU-CLEAR to remove dark spots, even skin tone and skin discoloration.

Step 2: translucent powder
Using a powder brush, apply translucent powder in a downward motion for a smooth finish. Translucent powder helps eye makeup and blush to go on smoother and blend better. It also keeps your face looking fresh and your makeup will last longer.

Step 3: eye makeup
Starting at your lash line, apply your base color first, then apply your crease color in the crease area. Apply your highlight color in the highlight color area, below the brow bone. Finally, blend the colors with a cotton ball or your fingertip to remove any obvious line. If the colors are too bright, tone them down with a little translucent powder then apply your mascara, and using downward strokes, dust your entire face with translucent powder.

Step 4: blush
Your blush should go on the apples of your cheeks to radiate when you smile. It should go no closer to your nose, but directly beneath the iris of your eye—below nostril-level and into your temple hairline. A good blush brush that's tapered for precise placement, is a must.

Step 5: lipstick
Define the outline of your lips with a professional lip brush or lip liner pencil that closely matches the color of your lipstick. Then apply your lipstick and blend the liner with a lip brush. Start from the center working outwards.

We totally love the name they picked for themselves. Willoway introduced themselves just a few days ago and we checked out what they had to offer to all the girls in Malaysia.

We noticed that there's a mix of both vintage and trendy outfits and being new in this line, they certainly hit the right sense of stlye in the fashion scene and we couldn't contain our excitement to share with you what we found, like a few little girls finding a few pieces of treasure by the shore.

This is a rather unique piece of chiffon top to wear. Stylish if it were to match with a high waisted skirt of pants, totally suitable for work and extremely comfortable looking as it looks real breezy! Definitely our pick for work!

Magnificient! We love how this dress portrays quirky and fun while keeping you stylish and trendy. Always the best to wear on a Bad Body Day. When you feel like crap in the morning where parts of your body doesnt seem the way they were the day before, it is always good to have this in your wardrobe so to hide all the uneccesary bulge from being bloated in the morning or during.. you know.. that time of the month.

By far our favourite piece from Willoway. We love how it flares out on the shoulders. That little ribbon is just one of the most gorgeous detail on the dress and boy, we've always loved the colour combinaton of pink and grey and not to mention that this dress has got the cut to show off those lovely curves of the body. So fun to wear this on a date! Bet he will love it too!

Online Boutiques are popping into the scene faster than ever! We've got so many new ones that online shoppers now have such a wide variety of fashionable wear to choose from and we take that as a good sign that Malaysia has (finally!!) evolved and is playing a big part in the online scene around the world.

In case you didn't know, online boutiques in Malaysia were first introduced back at 2006. Few of the oldest online boutiques we have now is Shopaholics Unite and Clothes Bucket of which we can recall. Like any other businesses, it is really hard to maintain an online business if there's no ample time and to keep this business running, it is not as easy as popping a peanut. Therefore, many of those who have decided to open one now, will have a much slimmer chance of making it big compared to starting one 4 years ago as there were less competitors around compared to now.

What you didn't know about managing an online boutique? It's not just picking out clothes from a supplier and start cam whoring in front of the camera that will bring you further into this scene. It is about the love, the passion, the fun, the whole process of maintaining a smooth and efficient way where at the end of the day everything is felt worthwhile when you know that your customers are happy with their purchase and service they got from you.

There are online boutique owners who mainly started the business just to make a few bucks. Yes there are but sadly, majority of them who only care about money in this business will not go as far as the ones who do it for a whole lot reason because this is a heart and soul business.

Here is a great list of things to know of how to handle an online business of your own. Not only for online boutiques, but for other businesses as well.

1) The most important thing is that you believe in what you are doing. Have a vision to where you would like to take your business to and make that happen. This will definitely keep you on track to where your business will be and also to motivate you further in life.

2) Make sure you like what you are doing as well. Always remember that in a job or your own business, to like what you are doing is to feel less stressful, less like work and more like play. The more you do it the happier you'd get because doing what you like or love will only push you further and to see that at the end of the day that's what you've achieved so far and that will give you the self satisfaction you need to look forward to another day in life.

3) Be fair. The saying "customer is always right" will never bring your business far down the road. All you need to do is be fair to them, understand where they are at and decide from there. If you allow the customers to bully you into giving discounts or free stuff, always remember that this is a business you are running, there are terms and conditions and there are also a standard that will maintain the image of the business and of you, the owner as well. So be fair and if the customer is just too much, you decide if you want to deal with this or find it not worth your time at all.

4) Be professional. Never ever back out from a mistake or something you dont want to deal with. Always solve an issue and never leave it hanging. Reputation will be jeopardize and therefore, causing you your business.

These are the 4 main advice that were given based on our experience in life. They might not be your way on how to handle a business but this is what we believe in and what we would like to share. With that, we wish all of you the best of luck!

Nothing Like a Steamy Cup of Coffee..

Ohh, yes! Coffee is one of the world's favourite cup of drink to have for breakfast, lunch, tea and in some other countries, supper as well.

It's always coffee that we longed for in the morning and usually for those who stay up late for study or work.

The saying goes "What you don't know won't kill you" but it is likely advisable that we should know some of the health benefits and risks involved consuming coffee on a daily basis.

Here are all the information gathered from Wikipedia, which we thought to be quite useful for all of us to know, especially for those who are extremely dependant on coffee to stay awake.

The Health effects of coffee have been studied to determine how coffee drinking affects humans. Coffee contains several compounds which are known to affect human body chemistry. The coffee bean itself contains chemicals which are psychotropics for humans as a defense mechanism of the Coffea plant. These chemicals are toxic in large doses, or even in their normal amount when consumed by many creatures which may otherwise have threatened the beans in the wild.

Coffee as a stimulant
Coffee contains caffeine, which acts as a stimulant. For this reason, it is often consumed in the morning and when feeling tired. Students preparing for examinations with late-night cram sessions frequently use coffee to stay awake. Many office workers take a coffee break when they have low energy.

Recent research has uncovered additional stimulating effects of coffee which are not related to its caffeine content. Coffee contains an as yet unknown chemical agent which stimulates the production of cortisone and adrenaline, two stimulating hormones.

For occasions when one wants to enjoy the flavor of coffee with almost no stimulation, decaffeinated coffee (also called decaf) is available. This is coffee from which most of the caffeine has been removed, by the Swiss water process (which involves the soaking of raw beans to remove the caffeine) or the use of a chemical solvent such as trichloroethylene ("tri"), or the more popular methylene chloride, in a similar process. Another solvent used is ethyl acetate; the resultant decaffeinated coffee is marketed as "natural decaf" because ethyl acetate is naturally present in fruit. Extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide has also been employed.

Decaffeinated coffee usually loses some flavor over normal coffee. There are also coffee alternatives that resemble coffee in taste but contain no caffeine (see below). These are available both in ground form for brewing and in instant form.

Caffeine dependency and withdrawal symptoms are well-documented.

Benefits

Reduced risk of Alzheimer's disease and Dementia
Several studies comparing moderate coffee drinkers (defined as 3-5 cups per day) with light coffee drinkers (defined as 0-2 cups per day) found that those who drank more coffee were significantly less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease later in life. A longitudinal study in 2009 found that moderate coffee drinkers had reduced risk of developing Dementia in addition to Alzheimer's Disease.

Reduced risk of gallstone disease
Drinking caffeinated coffee has been correlated with a lower incidence of gallstones and gallbladder disease in both men and women in two studies performed by the Harvard School of Public Health. A lessened risk was not seen in those who drank decaffeinated coffee.

Reduced risk of Parkinson's disease
A study comparing heavy coffee drinkers (3.5 cups a day) with non-drinkers found that the coffee drinkers were significantly less likely to contract Parkinson's Disease later in life. Likewise, a second study found an inverse relationship between the amount of coffee regularly drunk and the likelihood of developing Parkinson's Disease.

Cognitive performance
Many people drink coffee for its ability to increase short term recall and increase IQ.

Likewise, in tests of simple reaction time, choice reaction time, incidental verbal memory, and visuospatial reasoning, participants who regularly drank coffee were found to perform better on all tests, with a positive relationship between test scores and the amount of coffee regularly drunk. Elderly participants were found to have the largest effect associated with regular coffee drinking. Another study found that women over the age of 80 performed significantly better on cognitive tests if they had regularly drunk coffee over their lifetimes.

Analgesic enhancement
Coffee contains caffeine, which increases the effectiveness of pain killers, especially migraine and headache medications. For this reason, many over-the-counter headache drugs include caffeine in their formula.

Antidiabetic
Coffee intake may reduce one's risk of diabetes mellitus type 2 by up to half. While this was originally noticed in patients who consumed high amounts (7 cups a day), the relationship was later shown to be linear.

Liver protection
Coffee can also reduce the incidence of cirrhosis of the liver and has been linked to a reduced risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, a primary liver cancer that usually arises in patients with preexisting cirrhosis. The exact mechanism and the amount of coffee needed to achieve a beneficial effect are as yet unclear.

Cancer
Coffee consumption is also correlated to a reduced risk of oral, esophageal, and pharyngeal cancer. In ovarian cancer, no benefit was found. In the Nurses Health Study, a modest reduction in breast cancer was observed in postmenopausal women only, which was not confirmed in decaffeinated coffee. According to one research, coffee protects from liver cancer. Another preliminary study found a correlation between coffee consumption and a lower risk of aggressive prostate cancer.

Cardioprotective
According to the longitudial study led by Esther Lopez-Garcia of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, coffee reduces the incidence of dying from heart disease.

Laxative/diuretic
Coffee is also a powerful stimulant for peristalsis and is sometimes considered to prevent constipation. However, coffee can also cause excessively loose bowel movements. The stimulative effect of coffee consumption on the colon is found in both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee.

Practitioners in alternative medicine often recommend coffee enemas for "cleansing of the colon" due to its stimulus of peristalsis, although medicine has not proved any benefits of the practice.

Contrary to popular belief, caffeine does not act as a diuretic when consumed in moderation, and does not lead to dehydration or to a water-electrolyte imbalance; current evidence suggests that caffeinated beverages contribute to the body's daily fluid requirements no differently than pure water does.

Antioxidant
Coffee contains the anticancer compound methylpyridinium. This compound is not present in significant amounts in other food materials. Methylpyridinium is not present in raw coffee beans but is formed during the roasting process from trigonelline, which is common in raw coffee beans. It is present in both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee, and even in instant coffee.

Prevention of dental caries
The tannins in coffee may reduce the cariogenic potential of foods. In vitro experiments have shown that these polyphenolic compounds may interfere with glucosyltransferase activity of mutans streptococci, which may reduce plaque formation.

Gout
Coffee consumption decreased risk of gout in men over age 40. In a large study of over 45,000 men over a 12-year period, the risk for developing gout in men over 40 was inversely proportional with the amount of coffee consumed.

Risks

Cancer
Over 1,000 chemicals have been reported in roasted coffee, and 19 are known rodent carcinogens; however, most substances cited as rodent carcinogens occur naturally and should not be assumed to be carcinogenic in humans at exposure levels typically experienced in day-to-day life.

Gastrointestinal problems
Coffee can damage the lining of the gastrointestinal organs, causing gastritis and ulcers. The consumption of coffee is therefore not recommended for people with gastritis, colitis, and ulcers.

Anxiety and sleep changes
Many coffee drinkers are familiar with "coffee jitters", a nervous condition that occurs when one has had too much caffeine. It can also cause anxiety and irritability, in some with excessive coffee consumption, and some as a withdrawal symptom. Coffee can also cause insomnia in some.[citation needed]

Cosmetic
Like tea, coffee causes staining of the teeth.

Cholesterol
A 2007 study by the Baylor College of Medicine indicates that the diterpene molecules cafestol and kahweol, found only in coffee beans, putatively raise levels of low-density lipoprotein or LDL in humans. This increase in LDL levels is an indicator that coffee raises cholesterol. The Baylor study serves to link cafestol and kahweol with higher levels of cholesterol in the body.

Paper coffee filters have a property that binds to lipid-like compounds which allows it to remove most of the cafestol and kahweol found in coffee. Brew methods which do not use a paper filter such as the use of a press pot, fail to remove any cafestol and kahweol from the final brewed product. In contrast, drip brewing with a paper filter removes most of the cafestol and kahweol from the coffee.

Blood pressure
Caffeine has previously been implicated in increasing the risk of high blood pressure; however, recent studies have not confirmed any association. In a 12-year study of 155,000 female nurses, large amounts of coffee did not induce a "risky rise in blood pressure". Previous studies had already shown statistically insignificant associations between coffee drinking and clinical hypertension. Effect of coffee on morbidity and mortality due to its effect on blood pressure is too weak, and has not been studied. Other positive and negative effects of coffee on health would be difficult confounding factors.

Effects on pregnancy
A February 2003 Danish study of 18,478 women linked heavy coffee consumption during pregnancy to significantly increased risk of stillbirths (but no significantly increased risk of infant death in the first year). "The results seem to indicate a threshold effect around four to seven cups per day," the study reported. Those who drank eight or more cups a day (64 U.S. fl oz or 1.89 L) were at 220% increased risk compared with nondrinkers. This study has not yet been repeated, but has caused some doctors to caution against excessive coffee consumption during pregnancy.

Decaffeinated coffee is also regarded as a potential health risk to pregnant women due to the high incidence of chemical solvents used to extract the caffeine. The impact of these chemicals is debated, however, as the solvents in question evaporate at 80–90 °C, and coffee beans are decaffeinated before roasting, which occurs at approximately 200 °C. As such, these chemicals, namely trichloroethane and methylene chloride, are present in trace amounts at most, and may not pose a significant threat to embryos and fetuses.

Iron deficiency anemia
Coffee consumption can lead to iron deficiency anemia in mothers and infants. Coffee also interferes with the absorption of supplemental iron.

Coronary artery disease
A 2004 study tried to discover why the beneficial and detrimental effects of coffee conflict. The study concluded that consumption of coffee is associated with significant elevations in biochemical markers of inflammation. This is a detrimental effect of coffee on the cardiovascular system, which may explain why coffee has so far only been shown to help the heart at levels of four cups (24 fl oz or 600 mL) or fewer per day.

The health risks of decaffeinated coffee have been studied, with varying results. One variable is the type of decaffeination process used; while some involve the use of organic solvents which may leave residual traces, others rely on steam.[citation needed]

A study has shown that cafestol, a substance which is present in boiled coffee drinks, dramatically increases cholesterol levels, especially in women. Filtered coffee contains only trace amounts of cafestol.

Polymorphisms in the CYP1A2 gene may lead to a slower metabolism of caffeine. In patients with a slow version of the enzyme the risk for myocardial infarction (heart attack) is increased by a third (2-3 cups) to two thirds (>4 cups). The risk was more marked in people under the age of 59.

A Harvard study conducted over the course of 20 years of 128,000 people published in 2006 concluded that there was no evidence to support the claim that coffee consumption itself increases the risk of coronary heart disease. The study did, however, show a correlation between heavy consumption of coffee and higher degrees of exposure to other coronary heart disease risk factors such as smoking, greater alcohol consumption, and lack of physical exercise. The results apply only to coffee filtered through paper filters, which excludes boiled coffee and espresso, for example. Additionally, the lead researcher on this study acknowledged that subsets of the larger group may be at risk for heart attack when drinking multiple cups of coffee a day due to genetic differences in metabolizing caffeine.[citation needed]

The Iowa Women's Health Study showed that women who consumed coffee actually had fewer cardiovascular disease incidents and lower cancer rates than the general population. For women who drank 6 or more cups, the benefit was even greater. However, this study excluded 35% of its original participants who already had cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases when the study began. Since participants were all over the age of 55, no good conclusion can be drawn about the long term effect of coffee drinking on heart disease from this study.

UNDERLAND, says screenwriter Linda Woolverton, is a part of the earth. “But it lies somewhere far beneath our world. The only way to get there is to fall down a rabbit hole.” It is the same fantastical land that Alice visited as a child, but she misheard the word “Underland” and thought they said “Wonderland.” Alice, now age 19, heads back down the rabbit hole and though she has no memory of her previous adventures in Underland, she is reunited with its inhabitants, including a swashbuckling Dormouse, an off-his-rocker Mad Hatter, a grinning Cheshire Cat, a caterpillar called Absolem, a beautiful White Queen and her spiteful older sister the Red Queen. “Time has passed,” says Woolverton. “The Red Queen rules the whole land. It’s under her thumb. And the people of Underland need Alice.” Underland has come upon hard times since the malevolent Red Queen took over the throne. It is, however, a truly wonderful land, which might explain why the girl who mistook it for Wonderland has been called upon to help return it to its glory. But, says Woolverton, “Underland has always been Underland since the Beginning, no matter who sits on the throne. It will remain Underland until the End.”

ALICE (Mia Wasikowska) is a 19-year-old woman contemplating her future. An independent soul, she feels trapped in the narrow-minded views of women in aristocratic Victorian London. Alice Kingsleigh is uncertain how to balance her dreams with other people’s expectations. Following the death of her beloved father, she attends a garden party with her mother and sister, although, unbeknownst to her, it’s been planned as her engagement party. Just as the arrogant and dull Hamish Ascot proposes to her, Alice spots a White Rabbit wearing a waistcoat and pocket watch scurrying across the grounds. She rushes off after the furry fellow, tumbling down a rabbit hole and into Underland, a place she first visited as a child (and called Wonderland)—though she has no memory of it or its inhabitants. Alice nevertheless reunites with her childhood friends, including Absolem the caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and of course, the Mad Hatter—and seeks her true destiny. “In the beginning, Alice is very awkward and uncomfortable in her skin,” Wasikowska says. “So her experience in Underland is about reconnecting with herself and finding she has the strength to be more self-assured in figuring out what she wants.”

THE MAD HATTER (Johnny Depp) doesn’t just wear his heart on his sleeve—his ever-changing moods are quite literally reflected in his face and his attire. He’s been anxiously awaiting Alice’s return and is, arguably, her one true friend, believing in her when nobody else does. He is fearless, going to great lengths to protect her at his own risk. Once the proud hat maker for the White Queen, the Hatter has been affected by mercury poisoning, an unfortunate side effect of the hat-making process, and isn’t altogether well. “I always saw the Hatter as kind of tragic,” says Depp. “He’s a victim in a lot of ways. The mercury has certainly taken its toll, but there’s a tragic element to his past in this particular version that weighs pretty heavily on the character.”

IRACEBETH, THE RED QUEEN (Helena Bonham Carter) is the tyrannical monarch of Underland. With her oversized head, fiery temper and propensity to scream for people’s heads to be chopped off, she rules her subjects through fear. “She’s got emotional problems,” says Bonham Carter. “It takes nothing, practically, for her to lose her temper. Her tantrums are that of a two-year-old.” Her younger sibling, the White Queen, has designs on the throne and crown that Iracebeth once stole from her.

MIRANA, THE WHITE QUEEN (Anne Hathaway) is the younger sister of the Red Queen, and while she appears to be all sweetness and light, beneath the surface there’s a hint of darkness to her character. “She comes from the same gene pool as the Red Queen,” says Hathaway. “She really likes the dark side, but she’s so scared of going too far into it that she’s made everything appear very light and happy. But she’s living in that place out of fear that she won’t be able to control herself.” When Alice returns to Underland, the White Queen takes her under her wing, offering her protection, although her motives aren’t completely altruistic.

TWEEDLEDEE and TWEEDLEDUM (Matt Lucas) are rotund twin brothers who constantly disagree with each other and whose confusing chatter makes little sense to anyone but them. When Alice arrives in Underland, she looks to the Tweedles for guidance. Innocent and infantile, adorable and sweet, they mean well but are of little real help since they speak in weird rhythms and riddles. “I imagine them as naughty Victorian children, with their hand in the honey jar,” says Lucas, the British comedian and actor who plays them both. “And so I have made them quite child-like, which does come naturally to me, because I’m a big kid anyway.”

ILOSOVIC STAYNE, THE KNAVE OF HEARTS (Crispin Glover) is the head of the Red Queen’s Army. Seven feet, six-inches tall, with a scarred face and a heart-shaped patch covering his left eye, Stayne is an arrogant, tricky character who follows the Red Queen’s every order. He’s the only one capable of pacifying her and calming her dramatic mood swings. “I am the marshal element for the Red Queen,” says Glover. “The Red Queen has a fair amount of short-tempered reactions to things that people do, and so my character has to be quite diplomatic.” His darker side emerges in the shadows of the castle hallways.

CHESSUR, THE CHESHIRE CAT (voice of Stephen Fry) is a dapper tabby with the ability to appear and disappear. He is all calm, casual sensuality with a seductive grin that masks his cowardice. It’s the cat’s disembodied head that first appears to Alice in Tulgey Wood after she’s been attacked by the vicious Bandersnatch. He offers to purify the gashes on her arm by licking them. Alice declines, although she allows him to lead her to the Hatter’s Tea Party where the Hatter blames him for deserting them on the day the Red Queen seized control of Underland. Using his skills and the Hatter’s coveted top hat, Chessur later finds a way to redeem himself.

McTWISP, THE WHITE RABBIT (voice of Michael Sheen) is always worried about being late, always in a hurry, always rushing about. Charged with finding Alice and bringing her back to Underland so that she can fulfill her destiny, he shows up at her garden party in an effort to lure her back down the rabbit hole. “He’s a warm character,” says Sheen, “but, at the same time, he can be quite fussy and quite strict with Alice as well. He has an edge to him, a nervous energy, always feeling like he’s behind time. Time is very important to him, but he’s quite brave when called upon.”

THE BANDERSNATCH is a disgusting, drooling, foul-smelling creature with a big filthy body and the squashed, teeth-baring face of a rabid bulldog. A swipe of his long claws leaves Alice with a rather painful reminder of the Red Queen’s horrible reign.

MALLYMKUN, THE DORMOUSE (voice of Barbara Windsor) is a swashbuckling mouse in Underland who wears riding breeches. She refuses to believe that the White Rabbit has found the right Alice, the one who can help return Underland to its true splendor, and is only too happy to poke poor Alice in the ankle with a hat pin when Alice insists she’s only dreaming. But the tough little mouse comes through in a pinch when Alice is threatened by a clawing creature called a Bandersnatch. Her loyalty to the Hatter is unmatched, and she willingly faces the prospect of death to stand by him.

THE MARCH HARE (voice of Paul Whitehouse) hosts the Mad Hatter’s Tea Parties at his Hare House. Paranoid, anxious and slightly insane, he constantly wrings his paws and ears and has a thing for tossing teapots and other items. He has a penchant for cooking and is one of the few Underland inhabitants to escape the Red Queen’s clutches all together.

BAYARD THE BLOODHOUND (voice of Timothy Spall) is an unwilling accomplice to the Red Queen’s forces, fearful that his imprisoned wife and pups will be injured if he doesn’t do Stayne’s bidding. He proves to be secretively loyal to the Underland Underground resistance, becoming both Alice’s ally and a rather convenient transportation system.

THE DODO (voice of Michael Gough) is one of the first residents of Underland Alice sees upon entering the fantastical world. One of the oldest Underland inhabitants, the Dodo wears eye-glasses and carries a walking stick. Both quiet and wise, he stops his friends bickering over Alice’s true identity by suggesting they bring her to the even wiser Absolem.

ABSOLEM, THE CATERPILLAR (voice of Alan Rickman) is the all-knowing and absolute guardian of the Oraculum, an ancient document that depicts every major event, past, present and future, in Underland’s history. Alice is taken by the White Rabbit and the Tweedles to meet Absolem, so that he can ascertain whether she is, in fact, the real Alice who first visited Underland as a child, the Alice who is destined to help them. They find the bulbous blue caterpillar atop a mushroom in a mushroom forest surrounded by misty smoke. Several times Absolem challenges Alice to come to a better understanding of herself, forcing her to face the difficult question: “Who are you?"

BAND AID FOR HAITI - A Collaborative Effort Between 2Crank.com and Karyawan

The Review of 500 Days of Summer

A brief intro:
500 Days of Summer is a romantic comedy cum drama directed by Marc Webb (who is actually, more accustomed to directing music videos), that was originally an independent production, but was subsequently distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures in 2009. And what a brilliant piece of business it proved to be as the movie garnered critical acclaim, standing ovations, 2 Golden Globe nominations and an unwavering recognition for its brilliant story telling and script; and we fully support the overwhelmingly positive responses it received.

We know of very few other movies that have as beautiful a title as the one you see above - It’s abstract, indirectly direct and made us smile once Tom Hansen, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, introduced us to the lead female character of the show, Summer Finn, who is exquisitely brought to life by the very infectious and curiously named; Zooey Deschanel.

The story is presented in a nonlinear narrative, with viewers being informed in the beginning of the movie that this is not a love story; a proposition that is also the accompanying tagline on posters, although it more accurately read “This is not a love story, it’s a story about love”. It was wordplay that could’ve turned out to be a corny direction for the movie; thankfully, it was anything but.

The film begins by showing us Tom, a greeting card copywriter, in a depressed state having just gone through his break-up with Summer, the girl who simply walks into his office and then into his life. The rest of the film subsequently tells us of their relationship, his process of self-realization, growing up, and ultimately his “getting over” Summer through a period of 500 days; with animations and title cards introducing each scene. For us, it seemed to hit a similar presentation note as The Notebook, but of course in a much less “romance novel” manner. But if you liked the Notebook, you’ll probably like this as well.

What we liked…
Everything basically!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt whom we only remember from the sitcom “3rd rock from the sun”, literally came out of nowhere and earned himself a Best Actor nomination at the Golden Globes with a sincere, vulnerable, and completely relatable performance that effectively took us on that emotional rollercoaster ride he was on.

Zooey Deschanel’s undeniable charm and girl-next-door appeal was perfect for the role, and well we were fans before this, but even more so now.

Special recognition has to go to the 2 relatively unknown writers, who penned the script of this movie based on personal experiences, and the disclaimer “Any resemblance to people living or dead is purely accidental ... Especially you, Jenny Beckman ... Bitch." Was spawned from genuine emotions, and actually made the movie feel all the more honest and sincere.

So…
500 Days of Summer is a real gem and we’re just sad that we only managed to catch the movie so long after its release. And it’s shows like this that make independent films get the attention and recognition they deserve.

It’s just amazing that a film about 500 days of a young man’s infatuation with a girl, which could’ve been a phase out of any average guy’s life, could be this brilliantly pieced together.

Before starting to write this article, I decided to first check out what other people are saying about this important topic. So I went to Google search and typed in the words "dating and relating." The very first article on the page listed five simple ways to recognize Mr. Right. The answers seemed too simple to be true.

-You have a great time together (without adding alcohol or drugs)
-You feel sexually attracted (and are able to contain the feelings)
-You laugh together
-You're alike yet also different
-You are so at ease that you feel totally comfortable bringing this person home to meet your family

How many of you have enjoyed a relationship with a man who fit those five criteria within the first few days, weeks or months of dating? In the early stages of a dating relationship, once you pass the first hurdle of feeling sexually attracted, a man who fits the rest of the criteria may not be difficult to find. The problem is, even a man with serious mental illness can make you laugh, stir those sexual feelings, share with you so that you feel comfortable, and create a wonderful aura about himself for a brief period of time.

But here's the real scoop. Each and every one of us has our own special combination of personality traits, attitudes, skills, behaviors, education, values and beliefs. We are born into a unique family scenario with a certain number of siblings and a specific birth order. Our biological parents bring to us genetic traits, attitudes, behaviors and learned values from their nationalities and from their unique families of origin. We add to this all the personal experiences we have had that tend to strengthen or weaken our core beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and self-esteem.

As infants, our needs and behaviors are quite simple and congruent. When we are hungry, hurting, or emotionally upset, we cry or even scream. When we are happy or content, we smile or we giggle with delight. As we grow older, however, our personalities gradually become more complex. We have all heard about the terrible two's, toddlers having uncontrollable temper tantrums in their attempt to develop a personal identity. We have also heard stories about defiant teenagers who speak disrespectfully to parents and other authority figures as they continue to differentiate into maturing adults.

What we don't often hear about is the totally complex nature of love relationships. Many factors need to mesh in order for us to feel that we have found our soulmate. Our family scenarios need to match in some important ways so that we can feel accepted and understood.

For example, one person may come from a close knit family with happily married parents who rarely fight and were hardly ever separated from each other. The wonderful new person that seems to be so loving and appealing may have parents who had numerous affairs, substance abuse problems, several divorces and even incarceration.

If these two people hook up for a length of time, the differences between them can create a great deal of heartache and distress. The person from a loving family may expect attention, sharing and regular expressions of love. The person from the problematic family may feel smothered rather than appreciative, may often create distance, may be less willing to show their true feelings, less willing to make a full commitment, and more likely to find a way to escape if a situation becomes too emotionally difficult.

Yes, they can go for counseling and gain enough insight and awareness to keep the relationship going for a very long time. Will they be happy? Of course, some couples can overcome such deeply rooted differences and help each other to grow into compatible partners. Kudos to those who make the effort and succeed as a couple.

The more likely scenario is months or years of anger, resentment, misunderstanding, demands, and finding excuses to escape. The emotional pain often intensifies as the personal self-esteem and trust in relationships diminishes.

So, how do you know if he is Mr. Right? It does not begin at the moment that you meet a new and attractive potential partner. It begins as early as possible, as soon as you realize the necessity to self-reflect and discover your own bottom-line needs, desires and preferences. When you are secure in knowing, accepting and acknowledging your own self-worth and value, then you can clearly evaluate how a potential partner fits or does not fit into your life. You give up trying to force a round peg into a square hole. If the object of your current desire does not reciprocate in a way that supports your dreams and goals, then it is time to let go, let God, and move on.

We accidentally stumbled across MakeUpOverloaded across the Internet and we are thrilled that they are from Malaysia!

We have so many clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories sold online and we just realised that we cant find any beauty or make up items sold online in Malaysia. Well, we do have 3 listed on our side panel now but honestly, 3 aren't enough for our big appetite to look pretty!

Feelin The Blues?

How was your holiday, Republikans?

We had a blast during Chinese New Year (although we weren't too lucky with card games such as "21" and "In Between") and surprisingly, we managed to celebrate Valentine's Day too!

We stumbled across this quiet little spanish restaurant called Sentidos Tapas at Starhill Gallery while walking around Bintang Walk, and thought to give it a try as the restaurant was not packed at all compared to the other restaurants that we walked by. We ordered their Valentine's Day Platter to share which cost us RM70/set. The set consisted of 4 delicious grilled Tiger Prawn bites, a piece of Chicken thigh, a slice of mango-infused Fish and a small serving of scallop. The overall taste was just slightly above average when compared to other fine dining restaurants, but the grilled chicken leg had to be one of the best pieces of chicken we've ever tasted!

So, Tong Tong Chiangs and Gong Xi Nis are now over and once again we are back to the usual working Monday. We're feeling the blues today and that's why we arranged a little something to perk up our day with and we would like to share it with you just in case you feel the same too! Check out this funky collage!

When you get to enjoy 365 days of Summer, with the occasional patches of rain in Malaysia, the island lovers in us will never need to worry about having enough layers to keep ourselves warm during Spring, Fall or Winter.

Come the end of February, we will be heading to a rather untouched island off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia - Somewhere much less commercialized than Redang or Perhentian Island. SLS AMG & E-Cabriolet Exclusive Market Debut for Bryant Park Season Finale

NEW YORK, NY – Despite snowy conditions for the start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this February 11-18, 2010, the Bryant Park tents are red hot with the New York debut of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and E-Class Cabriolet.

While not on sale until spring 2010 and a yearlong wait list, the 2011 SLS AMG is the most eagerly anticipated sports car to hit the international car market. Its first New York appearance is the runway shows in Bryant Park, a backdrop worthy of its status given the 60 plus designers showcasing their fall collections and more than 100,000 attendees expected to descend on the tents for this “fair well” season before the shows move to Lincoln Center in September.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with its iconic gullwing doors and innovative technology draws design inspiration from the 1954 300 SL “Gullwing” first introduced at the New York Auto Show nearly 56 years ago. The SLS AMG is the first car developed from the ground up by AMG, Mercedes-Benz wholly owned performance car builders, and is available in nine distinct paint colors - ranging from the AMG Le Mans Red to AMG Monza Grey Magno to AMG Alubeam Silver, a new paintwork process used nowhere else in the world that lets paint shine like liquid metal.

Features that ensure four season, open-top driving fun include the electric AIRCAP® wind deflector. This new system is deployed at the touch of a button, and greatly reduces wind turbulence inside the vehicle’s cabin while creating a pool of warm air around the occupants. AIRCAP® eliminates the installation procedure for conventional wind deflectors, retains accessibility to both rear seats, and doesn't spoil the clean lines of the Cabriolet's side profile image. Optional equipment includes the next-generation AIRSCARF® heating system integrated into the front seat backrests, which blows warm air from adjustable vents in the head restraints to warm the neck and shoulder area like an invisible scarf.

Comfortable travel with the roof closed is ensured by a sound-dampening soft-top, which comes standard and provides a high level of sound insulation. With the roof closed, the E-Class Cabriolet is one of the quietest interiors in its class. Reptilian Influence

We were recently introduced to the interestingly named Swagdolls, so we took a peek into their site, and we what they had to offer, from soul vintage dresses to highly-irresistible reptilian clutches. Unlike most of the other online boutiques, we've got to say that Swagdolls does stand out with their unusual range of fashionable items, which is a definite plus for us!

We like their very colourful and fresh-looking fashion wear, which caters more for chic and trendy college goers, as well as sophisticated young working adults. Girls like us could definitely use a tip or two from them on how to stand out!

We spotted a whole put-together outfit from their collection that we thought was cool enough to be shared with all of you.

We adore this vintage brown sleeveless dress, which goes extremely well with that brown thick belt. Although the whole match was more or less of the same colour, which can be a boring thing, it really doesn't seem boring at all!

Is there anything more beautiful than this? We had this unique reptilian clutch in mind when we were wondering what would be a perfect way to complete the outfit. Usually when we head out to the malls or any normal retail boutiques, reptilian clutches are almost always of the same colours and designs - Plain and safe. However, this one made our heart skip a beat as we were taking in just how exotic it looked.

Participating in Paris Fashion Week, the Spring/Summer 2010 Couture show of Lebanese designer Georges Chakra was held on January 25, 2010 in Paris, at L'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts.

The May Fair Strides Down The Runway as The Official Hotel of London Fashion Week

Last September was when the typical flurry of fashionable activity as the fashion world descends on London. At the centre of everything proudly stood the May Fair Hotel, who were delighted to announce their status as the official hotel of London Fashion Week for the second year running.

Located right in the centre of the Mayfair village, the May Fair Hotel was at the heart of London Fashion Week and the place to see and be seen. The hotel once again became the nerve centre of British style, where top designers held court with supermodels, fashion scribes and the all-important buyers who made sure the world are wearing the hottest British designers in the months that follow.

The May Fair Spa has crafted a number of express treatments to deal with LFW fatigue, in particular The Oxygen Revival Treatment; which will leave you feeling energised, glowing with vitality and supermodel-esq in no time.

The May Fair also offers The Hub, situated in Amba Restaurant. The Hub is located in the Amba restaurant, where members of the international fashion community were invited to enjoy refreshments and a bite to eat. Amba restaurant became a private sanctuary exclusively for Fashion Week guests between noon and 6pm daily.

During the LFW period, Charles Oak, General Manager of The May Fair Hotel said, “We are delighted to be working with the British Fashion Council as the official hotel of London Fashion Week for the second season running. It's that time of the year once again! Shopping malls are now so packed with people doing their Chinese New Year shopping that, we don't even dare to think about going there anymore until the festive period is over.

Just yesterday we wanted to head to 1 Utama just for fun but at the end of the day, it wasn't fun at all! In fact, it was so frustrating to spend 45minutes looking for a decent space to park and having found one, we returned after walking around to find that our car had been hit by someone :(

Therefore, stay clear of shopping at major shopping malls and turn your attention to shopping online! Online Shopping has become a major hit in Malaysia, compared to 3 years ago. We have thousands of online boutiques and hundreds of new ones coming up everyday. We're sure that, among these online boutiques we've have listed on our side panel, one or two may suit your fashion taste buds.

Not forgetting, 3 more bazaars will be taking place this coming weekend at a few neighborhoods. So check them out and get your shopping done there if you are looking to do some non-congested shopping!!

The Greener The Better

Going Green is more than just a mere commercialized stunt that brands all around the world carry out to get some advertising and attention done.

Everyday, the air that we breathe in, the glare of the sun on our skin, the water that we drink, is so much more polluted, dangerous and contaminated compared to a decade before 2010. Have you ever wondered why is it that humans lived up to 100 years and above decades ago and now, its lucky enough that humans can live up to 70 years old? If we don't start caring for our planet now, our planet will no longer be a place to live in and humans might not go as far as living to see cars flying through clouds of sky-high buildings.

Here are some simple “green tips” for every day living. When done regularly, they just become a way of life.

1. Skip the bottled water
-Use a water filter to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water. Not only is bottled water expensive, but it generates large amounts of plastic container waste.
-Bring a reusable water bottle, preferably aluminium rather than plastic, with you when travelling or at work. This also applies to buying coffee.

2. Borrow instead of buying
-Borrow from libraries instead of buying personal books and movies. This saves money, not to mention the ink and paper that goes into printing new books. Download from bit torrent. Go paperless and wireless.

3. Less petrol means more money
-Shake those legs! Walk or bike to work. This saves on petrol, ERP and parking costs while improving your cardiovascular health and reducing your risk of obesity.
-Consider telecommuting if you live far from your work. Or move closer. Even if this means paying more rent, it could save you money in the long term.

4. Make your own cleaning supplies
-The big secret: you can make very effective, non-toxic cleaning products whenever you need them. All you need are a few simple ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and soap.
-Making your own cleaning products saves money, time, and packaging-not to mention your indoor air quality. It’s fun!

5. Eat smart
-If you eat meat, add one meatless meal a week. Meat costs a lot at the store-and it’s even more expensive when you consider the related environmental and health costs.
-Buy locally raised, humane, and organic meat, eggs, and dairy whenever you can. Purchasing from local farmers keeps money in the local economy.

6. Think before you buy
-Go online to find new or gently used second-hand products. Discover vintage. Whether you’ve just moved or are looking to redecorate, consider a service like yahoo classifieds or ebay to track down furniture, appliances, and other items cheaply or for free. This is especially true for baby’s toys and accessories.
-Check out garage sales, thrift stores, and consignment shops for clothing and other everyday items.

7. Save energy to save money
-Use fans whenever possible; air conditioning units are huge energy eaters.
-Install compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) when your older incandescent bulbs burn out.
-Unplug appliances when you’re not using them. Or, use a “smart” power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts “phantom” or “vampire” energy use.
-Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible. As much as 85 percent of the energy used to machine-wash clothes goes to heating the water.
-Use a drying rack or clothesline to save the energy otherwise used during machine drying.

8. Buy smart
-Buy in bulk. Purchasing food from bulk bins can save money and packaging.
-Wear clothes that don’t need to be dry-cleaned. This saves money and cuts down on toxic chemical use.
-Invest in high-quality, long-lasting products. You might pay more now, but you’ll be happy when you don’t have to replace items as frequently.

9. Save water to save money
-Take shorter showers to reduce water use. This will lower your water and heating bills too. Take cold showers whenever possible; avoid baths.
-Install a low-flow showerhead. They don’t cost much, and the water and energy savings can quickly pay back your investment.
-Avoid using a dishwasher; soap plates without using the tap and then rinse sparingly.
-Wash your car as sparingly as possible; commercial carwashes have a tendency to waste large amounts of water though some do use recycled water.

10. Keep electronics out of the trash
-Keep your cell phones, computers, and other electronics as long as possible.
-Donate or recycle them responsibly when the time comes. E-waste contains mercury and other toxics and is a growing environmental problem.
-Recycle your cell phone.
-What items can and can’t be recycled; lobby to have a recycling bin in your area.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

My heart is all broken reading about dogs on Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better. Dogs being physically and mentally abused by their owners and random strangers. Dogs being thrown out to an Island to fend for their lives. Strays which didn't survive because rescue was too late. It is heart wrenching to know that we are more than a million in Malaysia and there's only 5% of us who are dedicating our hearts to be the voice and support for these animals who cant speak for themselves.

As I was reading the articles on MDDB, it is so unbelievable that humans can be so cruel to a certain extend. Being in the working world myself, I have encountered numerous people who tend to take advantage of any given situation, even if it means breaking the law, in order to be richer or a step up from where they used to be. We might not realise it but we are no better than the carnivorous animals in the jungle which feed on their own kind in order to survive. What a world we are born into.

Here, organizations such as MDDB (Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better), PAWS Malaysia and SPCA Malaysia are trying so hard to speak and protect our human companions and on the other hand, there are more of us trying to get rid of these animals because they are like pests to certain people. My heart is all out for the people who are trying to reach the world by making a point that humans have no rights to take animals for granted or to abuse them just because they have no home. They have feelings too and we don't get to feel it because they cant speak our language.

Dogs and other animals deserve to be loved. If you have a blog or some other way you can spread an awareness such as this, please do help to do so. I hope that Malaysians will open their eyes and be ONE, as all the media are bragging about, to help each other create a better world for us to live in.

The Review of The Proposal

A brief intro:
The Proposal is a romantic comedy directed by Anne Fletcher and was officially released on June 18, 2009 by Touchstone Pictures. However, the film reached Malaysian theatres much later that its original release date.

The Proposal brings together Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock (who have worked together on a number of films before) as the 2 leading characters in the film.
Sandra Bullock plays Margaret Tate, a Chief Editor at a book company who is soon to be deported to Canada for a year. As a means of avoiding her fate, she spontaneously lies to the company’s management about her coming faux-marriage to assistant Andrew Paxton.

Ryan Reynolds plays Andrew Paxton, the hard-working, kind-hearted, assistant who is forced into the marriage scam created by his boss. He is initially reluctant, but soon takes advantage of the situation for his own career advancement.

The film then revolves around the many consequences of their actions, how Margaret Tate is forced to follow her faux fiancé back to his hometown of Sitka, Alaska, slowly realizes her actions after meeting Andrew Paxton’s family and how inevitably, they end up falling in love.

What we liked…
The on-screen chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock is definitely one of the better partnerships in recent times. Not to mention the fact that The Proposal represents Sandra Bullock’s first number 1 movie in 10 years and marked her biggest opening weekend. Not bad for a simple romantic comedy.

The humorous sequences are portrayed remarkably well by Reynold’s signature comical expressions and Bullock’s sophisticated yet funny mannerisms. And you do also get a glimpse of Ryan Reynold’s and Sandra Bullock’s “physiques” in very funny fashion.

The way the 2 lead characters’ relationships develop throughout the show is also portrayed well and is one that can definitely be related to.

What we didn’t like too much…
The romantic element of the film, although existent, was just slightly insufficient to create that sense of “falling in love” for us. In a way, it felt more like a “comedy that was romantic”, than a “romantic comedy”.

Apart from that, there really isn’t much that you can fault the movie for.

So…
If “What Happens in Vegas” is your cup of tea, then The Proposal will most definitely be one as well. It may not be as emotionally involving as say “P.S I love you”, but it is still more than worth watching.

So don’t miss out on it, and in case you do, be sure to get a DVD.

When we were struggling through those awkward teenage years, when our hormones were wreaking havoc on our bodies and our skin, we were most likely inundated by advice from our mothers and grandmothers, and even our girlfriends, on what we should do to keep ourselves beautiful despite the storm of changes upon us and upon our bodies. Some of them sound sensible, while some sound totally absurd.

But even if these pieces of advice sound really silly, there are some of them that we could not easily shake off. They seem to work for us, and why let go of a good thing if it is working somewhat?

Nonetheless, for curiosity's sake, sometimes there is a need to ask. Do the beauty practices handed down to us by our mothers, grandmothers and girlfriends that we have religiously observed through the years hold a grain of scientific truth in them, or are they merely beauty myths spun by old wives? Let's find out.

Beauty Myth #1: Plucking white hairs yields more white hairs.

This is definitely just a beauty myth. Our hair whitens as part of the natural process of aging, and some of us see our hair start turning white earlier than usual compared to others. It only seems to us that we are having more and more gray hair after we see our first strand of white because our mind is now trained to look for the grays in our mane, and so we are now more likely to notice.

Beauty Myth #2: Shaving the hair makes it grow back thicker.

This is definitely another beauty myth as well. Shaved hair seems to grow back thicker only because when we shave, the razor cuts the hair off only on the skin�s surface. They were not plucked off directly from the follicle. Therefore, when the hair grows back, the wide part of the strand grows out, making the hair appear thicker.

Beauty Myth #3: Mayonnaise makes for a great conditioner.

No, this one is not a myth. Mayonnaise, as long as it is real, does make for a great hair conditioner. The oil and eggs that can be found in real mayonnaise is rich in fatty acids and protein that nourishes the hair.

Beauty Myth #4: Applying ice to the skin makes the pores smaller.

Nothing can make the pores smaller. The size of our pores is the result of genetics, not of temperature applied on the skin, so some people just have smaller pores than others.

Beauty Myth #5: Toothpaste can cure pimples

Well, yes. Toothpaste has menthol and other active ingredients that can dry up a pimple and make it heal much quickly than if left alone. However, the same active ingredients in toothpaste that can heal a pimple can also dry up and irritate the skin of your face, so it is better to use a pimple cream rather than toothpaste for your pimple.

Beauty Myth #6: Applying beer on the skin before going for a sun tan results in a golden glow.

No, not true. In fact, you should avoid sun tanning altogether, unless you are going to use a self-tanner. Applying beer before going for a tan does not do anything for the skin. Some people are just prone to getting a golden tan, while others naturally turn red as a lobster under the sun. It is, again, a matter of genetics.

Beauty Myth #7: Crossing the legs leads to varicose veins.

Not really. The true causes of varicose veins are yet unknown, but again, some people are more prone to having them because of factors like heredity, age and weight. Crossing the legs will not cause you to have varicose veins, but if you already have them, it can make the condition worse.

Beauty Myth #8: Washing the feet when tired will make the veins swell.

The veins in the feet really swell when the feet are tired. It is the body's own automatic attempt to soothe the tiredness of the feet. In fact, it is indeed best to soak the feet in warm water to further increase the blood

It's just the beginning of a Monday morning and we're already looking forward to the coming weekend. And speaking of the weekends, we took a drive up to Genting Highlands over the one that just passed for no particular reason apart from to just get away from the usual weekend routine.

A drive to Genting Highlands only takes about 45 minutes, which is about the same time it takes to endure traffic on the way to a shopping mall in KL. We were welcomed by a cool mist-filled atmosphere and absolutely refreshing air at about 4pm. But do note that depending on your luck, it can be quite warm during the noon, so if youre not planning to go to the theme park (which you'll need a whole day for) and just want to enjoy the cool-ness of it all (Which is what we love doing), it's best to head there in the evening.

We didn't get any thrills from the rides at the theme park, didn't spend any money on tokens at the arcade, and neither did we try our luck at the Casino. Our outing was a casual one, and all we did was just have lunch at The Bakery, stroll around the very cool First World Plaza, watch people scream on the Flying Coaster, catch a sneak preview of Gentings infamous DREAMZ show, and basically just...chill out.

We just have to highlight The Bakery, which apart from being a bakery, also serves up some pretty good sandwiches. Our lunch was a Croissant filled with Smoked Duck topped, Mozzarella Cheese, accompanied by English Mustard and a Parmesan Loaf filled with Smoked Beef, Mozzarella Cheese topped with Mayonnaise which cost us RM16.50 each. Not the cheapest sandwich but you can't really expect cheap things from Gentings. Besides, the cool al fresco seating makes it all worthwhile.

First World Plaza gives you a refreshingly different shopping experience altogether. The place just looks and shouts "entertainment!!!" from every angle. It just feels so magical when it's all lit up and makes you feel as if you're in some sort of Fantasy Wonderworld.

The DREAMZ stage preview was performed on the stage in First World Plaza itself and showcased 3 of their acts filled with dancers, acrobats, men in tights, and a magician. The dance act wasn't something extraordinary, the magician was alright, but the Chinese acrobats were awesome. That preview was a pretty smart way of getting people to turn their attention to buying tickets for the show.

Speaking of buying. we couldn't help but notice how a 360 degree experience in Gentings revolves around an interesting financial cycle, especially when it comes to Casino goers (Which make up a large portion of Gentings guest list anyway). You basically go up with money, head to the Casino and if you're lucky, you'll win more money, but Gentings and all its offerings is filled with so much to do and so much to spend on (Including a very inviting jewellery store for the rich china-man) that you'll most probably end up spending the money that you won anyway, which then goes back to Gentings! No doubt, a possible secret to their success.

At about 8pm, we decided to wrap our trip up with a cup of Joe at Starbucks in the Highlands Hotel, which seems to be becoming a tradition for us before heading home. After all the walking, it's a nice place to just sit, chill a little bit more, enjoy the cool air a while longer, and recuperate before starting the drive down... which we did shortly after.

So if you ever need to get away over the weekend, break the norm of heading to the usual shopping malls, and spend some entertaining time with a loved one; take a trip to the City of Entertainment, as Genting Highlands so proudly label themselves. And if you ask us, that label suits the venue perfectly.

So you are going to have a job interview tomorrow. You really want that new job � the salary is great, the benefits package is awesome and it is truly a good career move for you. You think that, with your skills, you have a good shot at landing it.

You know that first impressions last. You have planned your outfit tomorrow, thought about what colors to wear for your make-up, and you have already done up your nails. You even bought a new pair of pantyhose just to make sure that the one you will wear will not have any snags. All you need to do is to get into that outfit and to drive yourself to your interview early enough to arrive at the venue of the job interview five minutes before your appointment.

But are you not forgetting something? What about your shoes? What?! It does not matter because no one will be looking at them? That is where you are wrong, girl. Of course, people will be looking at your shoes. If they do not fit the overall impression you are trying to aim for when you meet your interviewer, then you might end up a goner.

The shoes you wear should complete the look you want to have when you are doing that job interview. The perfect shoes for the corporate look should be dress shoes with closed toes and heels that are three inches or lower. If you can manage flats, then you should go for them. Most of all, your shoes should be clean and should complement your outfit. Wearing scruffy and dirty shoes to a job interview will not help you land the job. In fact, you are more likely to lose this career opportunity by wearing scruffy and dirty shoes; such shoes communicate to the interviewer that you are a sloppy and careless person.

But this does not mean that you cannot show your personal style through your shoes. You can still do so, but you have to bear in mind that the look you choose should be appropriate for the job you are applying for. If you are applying for a position in the banking or finance sector, you should try to be a little more conservative. If you are applying for a job that allows you to be more creative, like in advertising, then wear something that speaks �creative,� like large buckles or animal prints.

Aside from dirty and scruffy shoes, never ever wear these kinds of shoes to a job interview:

Sneakers. Sure, sneakers are very comfortable and laidback, but they are not formal enough. Job interviews are formal affairs.
Flip-flops, sandals and open-toed shoes. Again, job interviews are formal affairs, and should thus be treated formally. Flip-flops, sandals and open-toed shoes, even if they look classy enough, still look informal and therefore should not be worn on job interviews.

Extremely high heels. High heels look nice. They make you look taller and slimmer. But they are not that practical. You would not want to meet an accident and sprain your ankle while you are rushing to get to your job interview on time. Also, you would want your feet to be comfortable while you are talking to your interviewer. Pain caused by extremely high heels will show on your face.

Embellished shoes. Shoes with too many adornments like crystals or metallic chunks are good for evening wear, not for an office scene. And definitely not for job interviews.

Put your best foot forward at your job interview. And good luck!

Poised as a food outlet for the impatient gourmet, d’lish prides itself as being a source of good food for people chasing the clock who either want a quick dine-in or take-away meal… hence the label “impatient gourmet”. And staying true to their claim, they have arguably the best "already pre-prepped in take-away boxes" food.

On their menu, you will find salads, soups, pastas, pies, sandwiches & wraps, pastries, bento box meals, all sorts of snacks & desserts, and a beverage list featuring some pretty good coffee selections.

We actually had lunch at their outlet in Bangsar Village recently. We tried a Triplex, which is basically a triple-decker sandwich (a healthy one), with turkey meat, and a whole lot of healthy stuff and although it tasted quite good, it was a wee bit dry to the bite. And we also got a slice of their Quiche Lorraine… and I mean we literally got a slice of quiche which was “alright” at best.

Their sister restaurant; Delicious (Like it’s name), is a more complete version of d’lish. It has everything d’lish has and much more. But we’re not going to draw much comparison because in a metaphoric sense, d’lish are a 7-eleven, where Delicious is a Cold Storage. Get it?

In a nutshell (d’lish does have nut snacks by the way), we’d definitely recommend visiting d’lish, (But we have to cement the fact that Delicious does make a much more complete gastronomical experience). We’re just going to conclude that d’lish in Bangsar Village is one of those places you don’t go out of your way to get to, but would be more than willing to stop by if you were near it.

I haven’t experienced their “impatient gourmet” proposition myself, but I guess the possibility of having a wholesome meal within RM20, and within 5 minutes perhaps does do that tagline a bit of justice

The Review of Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen

A brief intro:
Released on 24 June 2009, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is the much anticipated sequel to 2007’s Transformers. The 2nd film, of what could well be an on-going movie series in future, sees the return of the alliance between Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg, whiles Shia Labeouf reprises his leading role as Sam Witwicky. The show retains a majority of its original cast including Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson just to name a more recognizable few.

Apart from a very familiar Autobot and Decepticon lineup, there were numerous additions to both sides with the Autobot additions staying true to their automobile nature, and the Decepticons continuing to take on much more aggressive forms as seen with the introduction of the Constructicons. Vehicle manufacturers wasted no time in utilizing the films immense advertising potential and it was obvious in the appearances of updated car models, concepts, and shiny new construction machines.

The storyline is pretty much reflected in the films title, as it revolves around the Decepticon’s having their revenge, and how the Autobots have formed an alliance with the military to stop them. And yea, apart from Sam Witwicky’s college life, and the revelation that the Transformers existence on earth dates all the way back to pre-historic periods, there really isn’t much else of a story going on.

Critics however weren’t amused and wasted no time in condemning the film with mostly negative remarks. However, I think their views should really be ignored as the film achieved the highest Wednesday opening gross in history! And the 2nd highest opening day gross of all time, behind The Dark Knight.

What we liked…
Action, action and more action! The film has a rather long running time of about 2 and a half hours, but it never felt dull at any moment. It was edge of your seat stuff from the opening narrative to the end credits.

Shia LaBeouf’s really good performance in the film is a major plus point as well. It was an exceptional showcase of all his acting abilities and is a definite sign that he will be among the Hollywood greats.

The Revenge of the Fallen fully and awesomely displayed what Transformers fans loved from its original cartoon days, which was a whole lot of robot VS robot carnage! And although the show does appeal to boys and girls alike, it’s safe to assume that it was primarily made as a male show and it did that pretty damn well. Megan Fox in tight shorts on a motorbike, a Decepticon in the form of a seductive college, awesome testosterone pumping vehicles, explosive military firepower, etc.

The skew is pretty obvious isn’t it? (Josh Duhamel was perhaps the only of eye candy for the females!)

What we didn’t like too much…
Some of the jokes slipped into the script were pretty funny and did well for the comedic aspect of transformers, although some very lame lines did beg a few questions. However, it’s slightly difficult to consider it a “flaw” because the original Transformers cartoons did incorporate jokes in them.

One thing we couldn’t help but think about:
The generation that grew up with Transformers is all grown up now, and would be able to relate to the more “adult” content the film had. Unfortunately, we felt that the film felt slightly immature.
Then on the other hand, the prospect of transforming fighting robots would be very appealing to a young kid, however, the sexually suggestive scenes involving Megan Fox and Isabel Lucas (who plays the Decepticon disguised as a hot college girl we mentioned earlier) really wouldn’t be appropriate. >
So there was perhaps an attempt at appealing to both crowds, however it is a rather blur line which perhaps shouldn’t have been crossed.

So…
We’d assume that most Transformers fans would appreciate the film as a whole, however, not everyone is a Transformers fan and this is the crowd that would most probably be left with a more negative memory of the film.

For us…well… Let’s just say we can’t wait for a Transformers 3 to be rolled out!

KLue Urbanscapes Report

If you’ve been living under a rock, then you probably won’t know what KLue is.

But if you’re a true urbanite then you probably know what KLue is all about…You may or may not have visited their website and noticed how awesome their content is… there’s also a good chance you’d have heard or attended KLue’s massive Urbanscapes event held last year, an event that promotes urban creativity and individuality…You also probably would’ve been at KLPAC more recently (27 - 28/6/2009 to be exact) for this year’s edition of Urbanscapes. And what an event it was…

We’ve been to our fair share of events, bazaars, music fests, arts exhibitions, carnivals etc. in recent years that let’s just say, “didn’t live up to the hype” or rather didn’t have any hype at all.

But the Urbanscapes 2009 incorporated ALL of the above, and as with the preceding year, made it a major success.

This year’s Urbanscapes was made up of 9 major “areas”:

1) The X Lawn – A showcase of acts that included Pop Shuvit, Yuna, Telebury, Pesawat, Gerhana Ska Cinta and many others voted by Xfresh listeners.

2) The Box – An intimate acoustic performance setup with open mic sessions and other up and comin artistes.

3) The Cinescapes Stage – Stage plays, film screenings and musical performances in an indoor stage.

4) The Sunset Disco – The Sunset disco features performers from the wknd showcase incorporating Malaysian independent musicians. Twilight Action Girl among one of the few performers.

5) Exhibitions – Titled Urbanscraps, the exhibition featured works from various Malaysian art gurus.

6) Indicine – True to the pun in its name, Indicine (Independent Cinema we think) featured screening of short films from various filmmakers.

7) Street Performances – An outdoor setting featuring a host of theatre and music groups

8) TiC Zone – Tongue in Chic Zone. The name says it all. Unique clothes, accessories and much more from vendors selected by Tongue in Chic.

9) X Marketplace – Loads of vendors selling all sorts of stuff in themed sections.

Unfortunately we didn’t have much time and only managed to get sneak peeks of the different highlights of the day. We did however, spend most of our time at the X Marketplace and the Tongue in Chic area.

Our own personal highlights of the day?

- The crowd
- The music
- The creative displays by the vendors at the marketplace
- The very well laid out exhibition areas
- A superb Lamb Hot Dog
- The many friends we met there

Our review is in no way comprehensive enough, because calling the event a total success would probably be a slight understatement. Even Mother Nature decided to call off the rain when dark clouds started looming (However the heat earlier in the day was relentless). The jam going into the event area itself was an indication of how “happening” it actually was, and just being there actually made us feel “happening”!

So a big thumbs up and congratulations to KLue for pulling off Urbanscapes yet again this year!

They set the bar last year, and raised it a whole lot this time round.

It seems like only yesterday that we cooked up the idea of Life In Monochrome, and here we are presenting you with a 2nd round of fresh picks for your viewing pleasure! And speaking of fresh, the sound of a fresh orange juice sounds very tempting now for some reason, and speaking of oranges... Guess what! The colour ORANGE is our colour of the month this June 2009!

Live your life in Orange!!

A Lil of Everything is an online boutique that introduced itself not long ago and offers not only clothing, but a variety of other cool stuff like contact lenses, fragrances, cosmetics, lingerie and much more. They've made it to this months edition of Life In Monochrome with a bohemian top that we found really appealing in a hippie sort of way and it's also very affordable at only RM15 a piece! (That's an absolute bargain!)

Our 2nd entry of the month is a little something called Beanipet who made it here thanks to their absolutely unique, cheek-squeezingly adorable selection of handmade pillows. One of our favourite pillow characters is Mojo who so happens to be made in Orange! Making him an ideal candidate to be featured in this months Life In Monochrome segment. The picture below is of Mojo Angry who can be yours at RM160. Considering that Beanipets' pillows are skilfully handmade and are therefore very exclusive items, you can be sure that the price tag is definitely justified!

The home of Fab'louz Boutique, which are our next contributor, is situated near Burger King in SS15, Subang Jaya. They carry a wide variety of stylish selections that cater to the younger working adults. We absolutely love this piece they call Slice and Dice because of its body flattering lines created by its V-neck and overlapping layers which provide a nice shaping effect to the bust area. All for a very affordable RM49.90!

The Bangsar based Gossips Boutique have always stayed up to date by frequently featuring irresistable items on their hangers. We totally love this Orange top as seen in the picture below, specifically because of the smock area which flares its lower portion and the addition of a pussy bow to top it off. Simply called the "Ribbon Sleeveless", these are up for sale at RM65.

ilovesnackfood are reasonably new players in the ever expanding blogshop game and bring a host of rather kitsch items to the table. Even their name is unconventionally catchy and fun - We totally "DIG IT!". There's nothing like a nice pair of flatties to compliment an outfit for a casual day out and these flatties from ilovesnackfood, with their awesome mix of colours and lines, are absolute gems. Interestingly named Flatties Strike Back, these could be yours at a cool RM53!

Itsy Beadsy tease their way into this months segment with their very sweet Candy Swirl earring studs. If you ever felt like hypnotizing someone with something, do it with these pair of earrings at RM5 a pair!

"Jiju's Cakes to Share" are serving us CUPCAKES for us to snack on this month. Jiju didn't manage to make it for our previous months segment but here she is, sharing these delicious orange cupcakes with us for only RM35/dozen!

Le Tresor Galleria at The Curve Mutiara Damansara

Here’s something interesting we found over the weekend. Relatively hidden in a corner at The Curve is a mini-bazaar-like tenant opened by Le Tresor Galleria.

Apparently, the Le Tresor Galleria group is an established bazaar host and has organized countless bazaars in and around the city. Unfortunately for us, we haven’t really heard or noticed them before.

Their outlet at The Curve is pretty nicely set up and features a very nice premium bazaar-like feel which contrary to their French inspired name, feels a tad Middle Eastern.

Within their compounds are some rather interesting tenants offering an even more interesting variety of items from decorations, clothes, beachwear, and more. Although not really in large quantities, the variety is sufficiently diverse to make for an interesting visit.

We’re not sure how many times their tenants change or whether they even change or not but it’s definitely worth dropping by if you’re within the vicinity.

Closet clean out: Get your clothes in shape for summer

The average closet offers a not-so-roomy 5-foot by 2-foot amount of space. And for average people, that is not a whole lot of room to work with when it comes to storing all their clothes, shoes and accessories.

Given changing fashion trends and seasons, closets can be some of the most cluttered spaces in the home. Summer is the ideal time to get yours clean, organized and ready for the season.

"The goal of an organized closet should center on the ability to open the door and, in one quick look, see everything you own," says Katie Baker Jones, fashion merchandising instructor at The Art Institutes International - Kansas City. "This makes that crucial decision of what to wear immensely easier."

"Fashion is meant to change, so embrace it," she adds.

Baker Jones advises getting rid of any articles of clothing that haven't been worn in the past year. One option for letting go is to donate your clothes to local charities like the Salvation Army or Goodwill. If clothes are fairly aged, another option to consider is donating them to a college. Some colleges collect clothing pieces from past decades for fashion students to study and gain insight on fashion trends.

Another tip: if you are still using wire hangers, use plastic ones instead, as they are better for your clothes. Baker Jones explains that the soft curves of plastic hangers "ensure better draping of your garments." Using plastic hangers also gives your clothes some room to breathe, thus reducing wrinkles and making your garments easier to find.

Tired at the end of a long day? While flipping your shoes off may seem like the most convenient thing to do, don't. "Adding a shoe rack to a door or the floor of a closet is another cheap way to utilize closet space while at the same time protecting your shoe investment," says Baker Jones. You can find shoe organizers for as little as $9 at discount stores.

Once you've gone through your closet, gotten rid of unnecessary items and parted with your less than "in-style" pieces, it's time to pack some of your winter clothes away. For short-term storage, plastic containers will do. "If you keep them in a relatively cool and dry location throughout the summer months, they should welcome you back in the wintertime unharmed," says Baker Jones.

However, in some instances, you may want to consider leaving certain garments in your closet. "Never sprinkle moth balls directly into a box of unprotected clothing or allow textiles to come in direct contact with untreated wood. If you have the space, just keep your wool garments in your closet, but rotate them to the back," says Baker Jones. "Furs should never be stored in the house. The investment of professional, cold storage is well worth it."

One last thing before you start your closet makeover: avoid using chemicals when cleaning out any closet. Baker Jones says that any chemical you use has the potential to get on your clothing and either damage the textile or irritate your skin.

By following these simple guidelines, cleaning out your closet will be as easy as a summer breeze. Soon you'll be on your way to expanding your closet's potential and protecting your wardrobe at the same time.

There was once a time when everyone went crazy over the man in black who could do moon walks, who sings from the heart, who has made the whole world cried out with love. Today, we were shocked to receive the news that Michael Jackson, our pop king idol, passed away at 5am this morning when he collapsed at his own home around 4am, Malaysian timing. He was then brought to UCLA and was pronounced dead an hour later. We were experiencing an extreme mix feelings of pain and sadness.

Michael Jackson, has done nothing but good (Child molestation accusations aside) to his people and the rest of the world. The Malaysian Donut War

Malaysia has seen a recent surge of activity in the “War of the Donuts” that sparked within the space of a few years ago.

The global Dunkin Donuts empire has been around for a long time and is to a certain extent, the pioneer who introduced this claimed American-born craze to Malaysia which for years was the leader in a pack of none, ahead of some non-existent competition, and although the quality of their donuts seemed to deteriorate in time, there were no rivals to worry about. Well not until recently that is.

This ring-shaped-dough royal rumble sees the likes of J.Co Donuts, Big Apple Donuts and Dunkin Donuts slug it out with minnows like Donut Empire (Of Singaporean origins) and the giant donut force that is Krispy Kreme which recently made its giant footprint in Malaysia.

But among these names, which one is the best? Well here’s what we think.

Dunkin Donuts

As mentioned earlier, they were the ones responsible for it all. Without them, Malaysia probably wouldn’t have been introduced to the commercial donuts the Dunkin way. They had outlets almost everywhere in Malaysia, serving freshly baked Donuts to impatient Donuteers. (we created that word ourselves). Unfortunately, as years went by, their quality took a turn for the worse as their donuts started becoming stale, dry, tasteless and soon after, only a handful of Dunkin Donut faithfuls were left. But to their credit, they’ve revamped, stuck with their guns, offered more than just Donuts and slightly regained their fame. Unfortunately for them though, the donut world was soon to be taken by storm by a host of rivals.

J.Co Donuts

Not many people know this (because not many bother to find out), but J.Co Donuts are of Indonesian origin and were formed in 2005. They were responsible for the resurgence of the donut craze in Malaysia which seemed to be dwindling at a time where Dunkin Donuts Malaysia no longer made the same great tasting donuts it once did. Their presence was accepted extremely well by the public with queues outside J.Co outlets stretching as far as the eye could see, all waiting to get their hands on some revolutionarily good tasting donuts.

The variations offered were unlike anything the public had associated with Donuts before.

Among some of the highlights were the JCrown Oreo (Oreo coated Donut), Da Vin Cheez (Cheesed-up donut with garlic sprinkles…our personal favourite), Coco Loco (Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate) and the Why Nut (White chocolate topped, peanut butter filled).

Their Donuts offered an unfamiliar yet fabulous texture that arguably made it the best-textured donuts of the lot. Also, their variations were original creations and consistently tasted good.

Big Apple Donuts

Did you know that although the Big Apple is another term for New York, which is in America, Big Apple donuts are a Malaysian born Donumenon (Donut Phenomenon)!

You’d be forgiven to confuse Big Apple and J.Co’s Donuts as they are really, really similar in every sense. So much so that there was a legal case between the 2 companies, of which Big Apple were accused of somewhat “copying” J.Co’s concept. How that turned out we’re not too sure.

Anyway, Big Apple Donuts cashed in on the revitalized Donut craze caused by J.Co Donuts and immediately became a direct competitor in terms of pricing and variety, and they were doing a pretty good job… So good a job that there was very little to choose between the two. Even their donut naming incorporated the same pun names made famous my J.Co’s!
However, for us, we feel J.Co has the edge in this duel for their originality and also because their Donuts do taste that wee-bit better.

Krispy Kreme

The World Famous U.S based Krispy Kreme Donuts. Its American origin offers enough credibility to make it commercially successful worldwide and there’s no doubt that their Glazed Donuts are arguably the best in the world. Their consistent quality stretches all the way to Hong Kong, where they taste just as good as they do in the US and recently, they’ve hopefully carried their reputation along with them to Malaysian shopping malls (At the moment it’s just Midvalley and Times Square).

Krispy Kreme donuts are of a totally different variety than that of our 2 earlier mentioned competitors. Unfortunately for us, we’ve tried them, and they really don’t seem to live up to the hype that was created by word of mouth prior to their arrival. Their glazed donuts are still good, but are on the verge of being diabetic. The rest of their selections look dull and well, don’t taste all that good. They can only hope that their signature glazed donuts save their reputation here because honestly, their others won’t.

Donut Empire

The Singaporean based Donut Empire remains relatively unknown to Malaysians and there isn’t much to be said about them. They seem to want to do what Big Apple did to J.Co’s, which is simply providing another option of an already successful concept to consumers, albeit in a slightly different packaging and name. Unfortunately, their prices match that of their competitors, but their Donuts don’t.

The verdict?
Well we’re going to have to give it up for J.Co’s Donuts for simply making great tasting donuts and for starting the donut revolution. The mighty Krispy Kreme could’ve proven a worthy opponent if not for it’s poor showing. However, much respect has to be given to Dunkin Donuts for being the “pioneer”, and for continuing to survive up till today.

So much for Donuts, and we’re sure there will be those who agree and disagree with out verdict…

Perhaps we’ll take a look at the Malaysian Burger War next time round =)

Pastel Pink

It is approximately 1.24am right now and we are still up, wriggling through online boutiques and uploading some advertisements for the site (check out luvmydresses ad banner on top, they are extending their sale!), we've decided to drop in with two little pastel pink somethings that we found.

Did you realise that Pastel Pink is one of the few colours which looks superbly good on females but not on males? And if the colour is on a male, it makes them look "G"ay? Well, we love pink alot as it represents femininity and we only think that it looks really good on guys who are tan enough to pull off that colour. So if your hunk is tan enough, get him a polo collared tee in pastel pink. He might just look extremely hot!

If you know what a Bikini Wax is, GREAT!
If you don’t, well NO it’s not something you use to make your Bikini/swimsuit shine and glimmer under the sun…It’s actually a process that involves removing hair from a certain part of your body. (Not your hands or arms or neck or chest or back or legs or armpits or face or head)

Here are the 3 common variants of Bikini Waxing that you can and perhaps should experience sometime:

American waxing – Otherwise known as a basic Bikini wax, it removes the hair on the thighs and below the naval. (doesn’t sound so bad does it?)

French waxing – A little bit more extreme, you basically get the “treatment” in the pubic area, leaving a small “strip” of hair. Also as an option, is the removal of hair in the “lower areas” hence its alternative names, the Playboy Wax or G-Wax. (Get it?)

Please Help! Missing Siblings last seen at Sri Putramas, Jalan Kuching

Dear Readers,

We are very distraught by the fact that, more children are missing despite the number of awareness campaigns and countless articles generated to the public.

Parents were advised to keep an eye on their children at all times and we still hear news of children going missing every single day. We really hope that parents are more aware of their surroundings and to hold on to their children at all times. Children gone missing is an extreme matter where they have a high chance of not coming home at all.

So, please!! Please take this as a very serious matter and DO NOT allow your children to run around outside the house perimeters alone or unescorted. This can highly reduce the chances of a stranger walking and talking to them. Also, tell your children how they CANNOT talk to strangers and how to call for help if they were being approached. They might not understand, but find a way to explain to them how they will get into trouble if they do talk to a stranger without you being around.

We hope to make our world and the future a safer place for the next generation of our kind, and we hope that you will also have the heart to help spread the news of these missing children.

IKEA’s Sweeeeedish Meatballs!

We don’t need to tell you what IKEA is.

Neither do we need to tell you just how engaging their second to none showrooms are.
We won’t even go on about their affordable prices nor do we feel the need to criticize some of their products to be slightly lacking in quality.

Instead, we want to tell you about their irresistibly good Swedish Meatballs!!
If you’ve been to the IKEA at the Ikano Power Centre, then you must have come across the IKEA restaurant in the heart of the store.

The IKEA restaurant serves all sorts of Swedish inspired dishes from meatballs to poached salmon. There are also some “safer” items on the menu to accommodate for those who don’t feel like going too “Swedish”. However, we are compelled to again tell you how much we love those Swedish meatballs!

They are available in either a 5 or 10 piece platter, and are priced at RM5 and RM10 respectively (After a complex mathematical calculation process, we’ve discovered they cost RM1 per ball!)

Of course their not served plain as their accompanied by a really good brown sauce (not sure of it’s Swedish or not), a berry-like sauce (which seems weird but is actually good), and a serving of French fries (definitely not Swedish) to complete the meal!

Another superb yet undeniably simple item in their menu is the Ham and Cheese Sandwich. As the name suggests, it is in fact a Ham and Cheese Sandwich. For some reason it just tastes really good.

Fortunately, the items on their menu haven’t been named the same way their furniture is named. Would be weird if their meatballs were called “Kottboll” (which is in fact a direct translation of meat-ball in Swedish).

Tiovivo Design, a remarkable blogshop that we came across, which has a very unique style in branding their fashionable wear. We were so immersed in their fun pictures that we actually took our time to look through their whole blog. Needless to say, their photos are excellent. Combined by the brains and skills of 4 individual designers, who have the same love in having reasons to stay up late, and wanting to make the world a better place, comes Tiovivo Design.

When we were looking for more information on the brains behind Tiovivo Design, we read on their side panel that they themselves had no idea why they started the business in the first place. It was merely by instinct, that they came up with Tiovivo Design and they have indeed proven to be one of the best blogshop with the best photos we have came across so far. Pictures of the sea side and of other places such as Melaka town, portrayed nostalgia feeling for those who view them and that is something we totally love - a totally different theme from other blogshops and each picture does not have the same effect, in fact they made us want more.

Ever wanted to have the Perfect Pedicure but on a tight budget? We know what a great deal it is when it comes to having our toes look pretty when we want to show off those new heels we've got, therefore we found this DO IT YOURSELF Perfect Pedicure steps by Kate D'Imperio!

Materials:

+Basin or tub
+Foot Soak, Epsom salt or bath salts
+Pumice footstone
+Small brush
+Nail polish remover / cotton balls
+Nail polish
+Base coat for nails
+Top coat for nails
+Clippers
+File
+Orangewood stick (Cuticle stick)
+Lotion
+Foot scrub treatment

Whether you are in the mood to pamper yourself or just starting to get dolled up, a pedicure can be one of the most soothing and relaxing body treatments after a long day. If you find yourself surrounded by unavoidable stress factors day-to-day, wash your cares away with a pedicure!

Just follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Begin to fill a basin (or your bathtub) with several inches of warm water. Add desired amount of foot soak, bath salts or Epsom salt so that it dissolves in the water as the tub fills.

Step 2: While the tub is filling, remove any old polish from your toes with nail polish remover and cotton balls. If necessary, clip and file nails to desired shape and length.

Step 3: Grab a good book or magazine, turn on some music, or just sit back and enjoy the warm water on your tired feet. Soak for as long as you like, but at least 5-10 minutes.

Step 4: Using the small brush, gently buff one foot first and then the other. This will help to remove some dead skin cells and also to soften your feet.

Step 5: Using a foot scrub (Freeman�s makes a great one-Barefeet: Plum and Pumice foot scrub), massage the cream onto your feet, paying special attention to your heels and any rough spots. This will further soften and exfoliate.

Step 6: A pumice footstone can work wonders for dry and rough feet! Use this inexpensive extra to eliminate remaining rough spots. Dip feet after this step.

Step 7: Remove both feet from the tub and dry feet with towel. Massage your favorite lotion onto them. (Some companies even have a line of foot massage lotions!)

Step 8: Using orangewood stick, gently push your cuticles back along the nail. They should be supple due to the soaking.

Step 9: If you wish to paint your toenails, you can use toe separators to facilitate the process. Apply a base coat of nail polish to fill in the ridges and uneven surfaces. Base coats are generally clear or slightly opaque and they help to strengthen the nail to avoid breakage.

Step 10: Choose your desired shade of nail polish and apply. Allow first coat to dry and repeat. (Hint: For touch-ups, dip a Q-tip in the nail polish remover and gently swab away the unwanted color.)

Step 11: Apply a crystal-clear topcoat to add shine and to protect color from chipping.

Step 12: Enjoy your smooth, soft feet and beautified toes! You are now ready to sport your favorite sandals or cozy up at home in your comfiest slippers. Whatever the occasion, your feet will look and feel great!

Approximate Time Required: 45 minutes to an hour, depending on personal preference.

On a totally different note. It is a Sunday Afternoon and before we forget, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all Fathers in the whole wide world!

Sometime last week, we heard on Hitz.fm that today is supposed to be Mother's Day instead because fathers don't deserve to have a Father's Day when all they do is work hard to make us, and then mothers are the ones feeding, cleaning, playing, teaching, worrying, etc. but of course we think daddies work hard too.

Not only does he struggle at work, he comes home to play with us eventhough he is tired. He makes sure that we live a good life, teaches us how to be a good person, making sure that our childhood is a memorable one, be there whenever we need him. We think Daddies deserve to have a day too!!

So take your day off today to have some quality time with your daddy. It will totally make his day and for him to finally relax and have his children make him happy. Have fun, you guys!

Cupcake Chic

Cupcakes recently seem to have made a return. No longer just a small cake, it now seems to be an actual trend!

Cupcake Chic made its debut appearance back in 2007, with a mission to introduce Malaysia to REAL cupcakes at a time where most of the cupcakes available seemed to be just mouthfuls of cream which looked good but tasted otherwise.

We managed to treat our taste buds to some of their cupcakes recently:

Red Velvet: Red velvet cake topped with Cream Cheese frosting.
- Didn’t quite like the cake part that had a hint of bitterness to it. It seemed to be chocolate but wasn’t rich chocolate so the bitterness felt a bit out of place. The frosting however, was superb.

Chocofee: Coffee Cake topped with light chocolate frosting
- A very light, easy to eat cake although slightly dry. Chocolate frosting was again, really good.

Fatal Attraction: Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting
- Definite choice for chocolate lovers. The cake is good and the frosting is even better.

We didn’t manage to taste all the items on their menu, but based on our experience, here’s our verdict.

The cake itself is where Cupcake Chic’s cupcakes fall short. Although they do possess sufficient bite, they lack in sheer taste. We’ve had some home made cupcakes before which have close-your-eyes-in-appreciation levels of taste, Cupcake Chic’s are nowhere near.

However, their frosting is definitely one of THE BEST around, it saves the whole Cupcake Chic experience.

So if you decide to try one, make sure that the piece you place on your fork has a good balance of the frosting and the cake, let the cakes soft texture land on your tongue, then slowly bite through the frosting and savour the experience. As tempting as it may be, try not to finish all the frosting and leave the cake behind!

We are dreamers indeed, and we love to dream about how we are somewhere far far away from the city and that no worries would fill our minds. We love to dream of island getaways, where we can lay by the beach, watching the sun set for stars to fill the sky. Sigh, what will we do without being able to dream. It totally keeps us sane.

When we were at Mimpi's Website, we totally fell in love with her accessories. Oh, they just look so sweet and lovely. We noticed that she used alot of roses, sparrows and crystal droplets as part of her designs among her accessories which we think is the main thing that attracts her girls.

One thing that we are sad about is that her items are all sold out, like 99% of her collection. However, we want to share with you whatever we found and love. So, be on your toes next time whenever Murni updates, because we've got to warn you that her items WILL be sold out within minutes.

Show me a relationship where the fun is gone and I will show you a relationship that lacks intimacy, honesty, real companionship and a positive outlook for the future. Why is fun so important in relationships? Does a willingness and ability to have fun with your partner mean that you have to both have a lot in common? Or that you both like to play golf or tennis? No to both questions.

The ability to have fun means that you both are willing and want to experience new things together whether it is a new Bed & Breakfast for a Friday night sleep over or attending a concert by a music group that neither of you has ever heard of. It could mean a day of white water rafting when the most you have ever done is lay around in the neighborhood pool for a few hours. It doesn't matter how you choose to define fun. As long as you laugh, enjoy yourself and your partner and create positive memories.

To some degree the ability to have fun together may be related to your willingness to try new things, your flexibility, your adventurous spirit and your spontaneity. Again I ask, why is the ability to have fun with your partner so important.

It can reduce the negative impact of the stressors in your life.
It can create the opportunity for new social experiences.
It can contribute to your ability to talk with each other about things other than family or the weather.
It may help you live longer.
It can give you lots of great memories.
It can expand your circle of friends.
It can help you keep the intimacy alive and well in your relationship.
It can deepen your personality.
It can expand your horizons.
It can improve your knowledge, wisdom or skills.

What are some different examples of fun you can have to put the spark back in your relationship or prevent them from ever leaving?

Take dancing lessons together.
Start a new hobby together — gardening, bird watching, water skiing, sky diving - whatever)
Start a weekly date night. (Alternate who gets to decide what you do on your date.)
Spend one weekend night per month at a new hotel, resort, B&B or even Motel 6.
Try a new restaurant once a month.
Take a cooking class together.
Visit a winery once a month.
This list could go on forever.
